Elizabeth Coleman

Elizabeth Coleman is the daughter of Nigerian immigrants who grew up in Austin, Texas.  She is a classical vocalist who obtained her Bachelor of Music from Baylor University. Elizabeth went on to obtain her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law. She began her legal career in the oil and gas industry, serving in Legal and Corporate Compliance roles for several companies, including GE Oil & Gas, BP, and Exterran. She transitioned to fashion and beauty and previously served as JCPenney/Sephora’s Director and Senior Counsel of business operations, ESG, compliance, and ethics. She addressed a broad array of issues such as bribery, corruption, human rights, regulatory affairs, sustainability, and international trade. Elizabeth served as the Chair of JCPenney’s African American Business Resource Group and launched JCPenney’s first Black History Month merchandise assortment; she’s conducted fireside chats with Ayesha Curry and Pam Lifford (President of Warner Brothers Global Brands). After making a large impact at JCPenney/Sephora Stores, Elizabeth accepted an executive position at Target joining the Legal Affairs, Compliance, and Risk Team. Elizabeth is proud of her bold leadership skills and strategic direction – currently, Elizabeth is Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at Varsity Brands.
